IP Code Testing (EN 60529)

Ingress protection testing for dust and water resistance, IP1X through IP6X.

IP Code Testing (EN 60529)

Overview

What this service is

IP ratings printed on a product are legal claims — and a frequent target for market surveillance. EN 60529 defines the exact test method, the conditioning, and the pass/fail criteria for every digit combination, and we run those tests to the letter.

We test both the solid-particle digit (IP1X–IP6X) and the water digit (IPX1–IPX8), with optional conditioning advice for borderline designs. Reports include photographic evidence and an explicit pass/fail per code claimed.

Scope

What's included

  • First digit (solid-object / dust ingress): IP1X to IP6X
  • Second digit (water ingress): IPX1 to IPX8
  • Sample conditioning per the standard
  • Test report with photographs and explicit pass/fail per code
  • Pre-conditioning advice for borderline ratings

Deliverables

What you receive

Test report (PDF) with photographic evidence
Statement of test conditions and equipment used
Re-test summary if remediation testing is requested

Why it matters

The cost of skipping it

IP rating claims on a product carry legal weight. Untested or overclaimed IP codes are a common trigger for market surveillance action and forced re-labelling.

Who it's for

Typical clients

Manufacturers of enclosures, outdoor electronics, lighting, white goods, and any product whose marketing relies on a stated IP rating.
